It' s basing time!

Basing time! Preparing for the Model expo Italy we based two ECW regiments.
And obviously we took some pics with our Cioporeporter...

Imbasettamento! Preparandoci per la  Model Expo Italy abbiamo
anche imbasettato due reggimenti della Guerra Civile Inglese.
Ed ovviamente abbiamo scattato qualche foto con il nostro Cioporeporter...

Now based and ready to fight. Basing is three bases of 6cm x 6cm each.
Rules are "Baroque", a supplement for Impetus.

Postman! Three 28mm ECW cavalrymen and the last four muskeeters for Earl of Essex regiment...

Today, at 13 CET, the postman delivered the Dixon miniatures parcel...
With these three cavalrymen we' ll complete a Parliamentarian cavalry regiment.
But with the four muskeeters we' ll able to begin to paint the Earl of Essex  regiment!
Why so emphatic?
Since the regiment colour is orange...and I like orange...:-)

Oggi, alle 13 CET, il postino ci ha consegnato un pacchetto della Dixon miniatures...
Con questi tre cavalieri completeremo un reggimento parlamentare.
E con i quattro moschettieri potremo iniziare a dipingere il reggimento del Conte di Essex!
Perchè così enfatico?
Perchè il colore del reggimento è l' arancione...e ci piace l' arancione...:-)

Updating and rebasing an ECW regiment, 28mm...the lavender regiment...

We decided to use for our 28mm ECW lavender regiment,
parliamentarian side, based 12cm x 6 cm,
the same basing of the other our ECW units, three bases 6cm x 6cm.
Due to this rebasing we had to paint two other muskeeters.
Here are some pics...;-)

Abbiamo deciso di usare per il nostro reggimento color lavanda,
parlamentare, prima imbasettato 12cm x 6 cm, lo stesso imbasettamento
delle altre nostre unità della Guerra Civile Inglese, tre basette 6cm x 6cm.
Facendo ciò abbiamo dovuto dipingere due altri moschettieri.

ECW Cavalry, 28mm, Part III

Create your oil colours “palette”. We have used Winsor&Newton Burnt Sienna, Raw umber, Yellow Ochre and Titanium White. Remember, use high quality brushes.

Create la vostra tavolozza per i colori ad olio. Noi abbiamo usato colori della Winsor&Newton, Terra di Siena bruciata, Terra d’ ombra naturale, Ocra Gialla e Bianco Titanio.
Ricordate, usate solo pennelli di alta qualità



Paint the base mixture for your horses. We have chosen two horses with 50%-50% Burnt Sienna– Yellow Ochre and Raw Umber the other one.
Paint until fully covered. This will be very thicky and will not look nice but it’ s okay.
Then take a flat brush and remove the excess paint cleaning the brush on a soft cloth between strokes.
Now you will have the recessed areas dark and opaque and raised areas light.

Dipingete la miscela base sui vostri cavalli. Noi abbiamo scelto di dipingere due cavalli con un misto 50%-50% di Terra di Siena Bruciata e di Giallo Ocra e l’ altro di Terra d’ Ombra Naturale.
Dipingete i cavalli fino a coprirli completamente.
Lo strato di colore sarà molto spesso e non bello a vedersi ma va bene così.
Poi, con un pennello piatto, rimuovete l’ eccesso di colore con movimenti dolci e pulite il pennello su un panno morbido dopo ogni passata.
Dopo questa procedura avrete scuri ed opachi i recessi e luminose le aree in rilievo.

Wait 45m-1h and then apply small amounts of Titanium White on the highlighted areas and blend the colours and remember…always keep cleaning your brush with a soft cloth.

Attendete 45m-1h e poi applicate piccoli quantitativi di Bianco Titanio sulle aree in rilievo e poi fate “blending” cioè sfumatelo.
E ricordate…tenete sempre pulito il pennello usando un panno soffice.

Shadows. Apply Raw Umber, or black in the Raw Umber horse, in the recessed areas and obviously blend the colour. And always keep cleaning the brush on a soft cloth…
Let the horses dry completely, 3-7 days.

In the part IV we’ ll paint saddles and harnesses, this time with acrylic colours.

Ombre. Applicate piccoli quantitativi di Terra d’ Ombra Naturale, Nero per il cavallo più scuro, nei recessi e sfumate il colore, ricordando di pulire sempre dopo ogni passata il pennello su un panno soffice.
Lasciate poi i cavalli asciugare completamente, per 3-7 giorni.

Nella quarta parte dipingeremo selle e finimenti con colori acrilici.

Painting ECW units, Cavalry, Part II

We have decided to paint our cavalry unit. But we' ll use oil colours for the horses.Since we' ll paint the three horses with different brown hues, the first step is a white primer and let dry 24/48 hours,then a sand or light brown colour, acrylic or enamel, as base.Obviously let the sand colour dry for 48/72 hours.Next post we' ll begin to paint with the oil colours.

Abbiamo deciso di dipingere la nostra unità di cavalleria ma useremo colori ad olio per i cavalli.Dato che i cavalli saranno di diversi toni di marrone la prima cosa da fare è spruzzare un primer bianco e farlo asciugare per 24/48 ore. Poi applicare un color sabbia o marrone chiaro, acrilico o enamel, come base e farlo asciugare per 48/72 ore.Il prossimo post cominceremo con l' applicazione dei colori ad olio.

Preparing ECW infantry e cavalry units...28mm...

Some days ago we have ordered a small amount of Dixon miniatures, 28mm ECW, to complete another infantry unit and to enlist a cavalry unit. Here are the pictures and we like the cavalry in particular.
Images of the painting process will follow and the infantry regiment will be an orange one...

Qualche giorno fa abbiamo ordinato alcune miniature della Dixon, 28mm Guerra Civile Inglese, ECW, per completare un' unità di fanteria e fare un' unità di cavalleria. Siamo rimasti particolarmente colpiti dalla finezza di scultura dei cavalli...
Seguiranno immagini del procedimento pittorico ma vi diciamo subito che la fanteria sarà arancione...
A proposito ecco il video del "reggimento lavanda"...

An English Civil War Regiment in 25mm

A new rules set on TYW and ECW has aroused our interest on a number of 25mm ECW Dixon miniatures hidden in a box.

So here’ s, step by step, the painting work on the first regiment. Obviously more will follow as soon as possible.

We have chosen the Lord Brooke regiment for its colours, lavander/purple.

White primer, 3 tone for each colour, washing and drybrush. Base 12cm x 6cm.

Flag is for the colonel.

Un nuovo set di regole sul 1600 ha risvegliato il nostro interesse su un discreto numero di miniature della Dixon in 25mm della guerra civile inglese nascoste in una scatola.

Perciò ecco passo dopo passo il lavoro sul nostro primo reggimento. Ovviamente a seguire gli altri “molto” presto…

Abbiamo cominciato con l’ unico reggimento con il colore distintivo lavanda/porpora. Il reggimento di Lord Brooke che combattè per il parlamento. Poi passeremo ai reggimenti arancioni…

Primer bianco e poi ogni colore con base, dettagli, washing e poi drybrush. La base è 12cm x 6 cm.

La bandiera è quella del colonnello.
