100 years ago...Belleau Wood...

Good Morning to All of You...
It' s a short time I wrote my "I' m back" post, and now I remembered that' s the anniversary of the battle of Belleau Wood.
Several years ago I wrote a series of post on painting and wargaming that battle.
Here' s the link. I had to update the links to wargame rules and scenarios, since the original website doesn' t exist any longer...

10mm WWI, FT-17, French and Germans...and buildings...

At Crisis a friend of mine took my order...Pendraken 10mm, all WWI...
Three French tanks, FT-17, some French infantry and German assault troops.
And many bases for these miniatures, for my 28mm ECW and for my two 20mm
armies of the Carthaginian Wars...I want to rebase them...DBA v3 is coming...

More...I need three ruined buildings bases for the  Pz8 rules,  Belleau Wood scenario,
so I scratchbuilt them...

French tanks will be useful for another scenario of  Pz8 rules,
Le Matz, June 1918. A tanks encounter...Germans assaulting French line
and FT-17 as reinforcements...

Now some pics for our painting guide...
FT-17...by the way...Pendraken model is in 10/12mm scale, so you' ll be able to use it
in some WWI N scale train layout...

Assembled and white primed...

Base colour, light sand...

Medium green camouflage...

Dark brown washing...next time highlights and tracks...

Base colours for French and German infantry...

To scratchbuild my ruined buildings I used 6cm square bases from Warbases.
Walls from artistic hard board and textured. Painted with different effects
and a black washing to simulate burnt structures...

I added an explosion crater...

A wargaming day with Pz8 and Warfare in the Age of Reason rules...

Here are some pics of our latest wargaming day in Genoa ;-)

We played 5 games using the Pz8 rules, in this case the WWI version, Belleau Wood scenario
and a game with Warfare in the Age of Reason, the battle of Quebec.

Really a good time!

Belleau Wood scenario with Pendraken 10mm.
Lacking of trenches we used stone walls and fences instead...

The making of a demo game, Belleau Wood, Part IV

And now...how to make the battleground?
Pz8 rules for WWI want a battleground divided in squares.
Square side equal to three times the base width, in this case 3cm, so 9cm square side.
Battleground is 6 x 8, so we need 48 squares from a foam sheet.
By the way, we' ll use the same squares for our new project, Gettysburg on 3mm using Polemos rules...

Part III

Part II

Part I

Painting the square surface with a sand colour.

Dipingiamo la superficie dei quadrati con un color sabbia.

Painting a dark brown.

Dipingiamo i lati con un marrone scuro.

White glue.

Colla vinilica.

Irregular sand flocking. Remove the excess.

Spargiamo irregolarmente il flocking color sabbia. Rimuovere l' eccesso.

Now we cover with green flocking.

Ora ricopriamo con flocking verde.

Let dry and then remove the green flocking with a soft brush.

Lasciare asciugare e poi rimuovere l' eccesso con un pennello morbido.
